Uncle Irving digs into some cilantro.

Oh. This was a sleepless week. And this morning I woke to the gentle prodding of my husband, who quietly asked if I was planning on going to work today. For whatever reason, my alarm never went off. This was good because I actually got some sleep. It was bad because I had to pull my shit together in 10 minutes and arrive at work discombobulated and uncaffeinated. I still kind of feel like my skirt might be tucked into my tights somewhere or that I accidentally pulled my hair into a side ponytail.

Mostly, though, my brain is simply awash with thought. I've been thinking a lot about the concept of historic preservation and how it relates to class and urban development. I've also been wondering a lot about the concept of loss and how that might play into people's attachment and motivations to preserve the physical environment. On the other end of the spectrum, I've been trying to find some good books on Tammany Hall and politics during the Progressive Era.

And last night I had a dream that had something to do with a juicer and digital audio files.

I really hope that there is sun in store for us this weekend. I could use a good walk or bike ride, some libation and a few spare moments to breathe.

It sounds more like you are in need of sleep. Get the cats to help you, if necessary.
