The Box

2006-01-16 catbox.jpg

Over the course of a week, each of our cats sat inside this box. By Sunday the sides of the box were nearing collapse (guess who sat in it last?), but the cats continued to rotate their ownership of the cardboard throne. I wonder if we can get them to all sit next to one another, provided they are each sitting in their own shoebox?

**

Frieda caught a mouse yesterday and, according to Lex, was quite proud of herself. I am still caught between pleased (at least she has some instinct left) and not so pleased (there was a MOUSE in our house).

ha. i guess the other cats should be lucky that olga was last.

did frieda bring the cat to the bed while lex was still sleeping?

you mean the mouse? no. i think she was batting it around for a bit and eventually brought it to him (alive) in her mouth.

i love how olga's expression is one of such finality. "no more box."

why do cats do this? what possible evolutionary gain is there to be had from wedging yourself in a shoebox?

Don't you just love dansko shoes! I have about five of these shoeboxes if you ever want to test your theory...

Maybe it's a sign of growing peace if they're willing to share the same box. Oh, and I meant in an earlier post to say that the 60 lbs of cat would average out to 15 lbs per cat.

Those are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn... am wearing now, even...

What is with cats and boxes? I ask Lewis this and he won't tell me.

Sometimes , you just need your own parking space.

Can we see the new Dansko's...my only brand of shoe?

Oh, those were old shoes...I just saved the box and was keeping old tech discs in it. When I finally unpacked, I donated the box to the cats.

In my experience, one mouse cought means one less mouse, no more, no less. Mice don't hang out where they are in danger, there are more hospitable locals.

I have a hard-core box obsessed cat. Carrier? He hops right in. Toolbox? Cool beans. Freezer? Apparently quite cozy.

Have you tried paper bags? Some of mine are fond of them!

I mean no disrespect to the other kitties, but Olga is sooooooo beautiful.

Well, she's barren and her calendar is wide open, so if Pete would like a date I can arrange it.
