Hey There

Hey there. I'm here, sort of, just very distracted, so this out-of-focus photo of Uncle Irving will have to suffice.
In short...
- I took the Megabus to Albany last Friday to visit my parents and grandmother, who recently moved in with them. Megabus to Albany is awesome because a) it's cheap and b) there are about 10 people on a double decker bus meant for 100. It was all fabulous until we hit the Lincoln Tunnel on the way home and our driver decided to change lanes at the EZ Pass at the last minute, somehow wedging the bus between two concrete retaining walls in such a way that we were stuck. Thankfully, through the help of the transit cops, the issue was resolved. One can't get that close to home and then get stuck inside the entrance to the stinky Lincoln Tunnel.
- We took Irving to the vet this week because he has been having some poo problems. I'll spare you the details. The vet asked us to take him off of his current medication and give him 1 tsp of plain yogurt per day until he firmed up. Poor cat.
- A friend of mine emailed me to say that she was casually Googling fat cats on Google image search and decided to step things up a notch by using "obese cats" as her search terms. Olga came up in the hits.
- My seeds came! And tonight we will go buy supplies for our little indoor grow center. I can't wait until mid-March when we can start ripping apart the garden patch in the back yard. February be gone, I say! For a variety of reasons.

Do you know about the Seed Library? It's based in the Hudson Valley and operates like a library. You can "check out" heirloom seeds for a season, grow them, then if they succeed, you subsequently return some of the new seeds to the library.

What a fabulous organization! I just followed the link and placed an order. I wish I didn't have to share the yard with my neighbors. At least I have my little plot that I claimed, but it's not big enough or deep enough for anything beyond tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. And even all those were really crammed in there last year. Maybe I'll get some big pots and expand that way...
