It's All in How You Define Lucky

2009-01-04_02.jpg

There are a lot of rituals associated with luck for the New Year. For me, 2009 began with a lucky letter. Within moments of leaving the house on my birthday morning, I found this oldie inside a leaf pile next to our fence. It is postmarked 1952 and I have a strong suspicion it was originally inside a bureau that someone dumped down the street.

The letter reads:

My dear Ray,

Now that my pal Coll has left Miami for where I don't know I am asking you to send the 2 days pay to me. I soon realized that after I was in the Adirondacks that I was with a jerk who had never been out of the woods but I supposed that is why they have erasers on pencils. Thank you. I am back at the Columbus. Tom.

I love a found letter with some humor. Onward to 2009!

I define lucky as more than one Callalillie post per week (-;
