All Over the Place

2006-11-06 01.jpg

Did I mention that a few weeks ago, early in the morning, I saw a man wandering down the middle of our street haphazardly waving what appeared to be a very large gun?

Actually, it didn't just appear to be a gun, it was a gun. A large, metal gun with wires dangling out of the bottom, wire that I can only assume had attached the firearm to a video game consol. Regardless, the man was waving it around, aiming at passing cars and warehouses, and pretending to fire. No one on the ground seemed particularly concerned, which lead me to believe that the gun looked much more realistic from our fourth floor window than up close, kind of like the time that two guys got into a fight beneath our window and one screamed at the other, "I'm going to shoot you," and we decided to get down low to the floor for a bit, just in case. You feel kind of silly but at the same time, you never know.

Toy gun or real gun, it was not a nice way to start the morning. Neither was my two hour commute today, which is why I do not have any time to write what I planning on posting. Until Wednesday...and don't forget to vote.

Saturday morning, I was driving through your hood on my way to Fairway. Three drugged-up-looking teens casually approached my car as though they were about to casually walk into it and/or carjack me. Thankfully I was with two friends, and was able to drive quickly past. It was really creepy and unnerving.

really? hmm. i've never seen that before. i did, however, see droves of park-slope-looking sixteen year old boys dressed in black and tight pants. i think there was a teen concert series somewhere...maybe liberty. they were so painfully awkward looking that i wished i was drugged up.

That's when I might drop a real potted plant out the window and onto his head. Oops, it slipped. So sorry. And also get out of my neighborhood and take your crazy with you. That's what I would want to do. Probably I would simply watch from the window by hide a little bit so that he didn't see me and wave the gun at me.

i, too, was in your nabe on saturday going to the fairway... and i kept thinking i might see you there and finally introduce myself in person. only i'd likely have to say, "hi, corie, it's alyssa, um, grumpygirl, from the blog..." awkward.

and guns outside flip me out. and i'm very unhappy about the chickens in redhook.

we were home all weekend, though we spent the bulk of sunday assembling bookshelves and carting books from one side of the apartment to the other. we do our fairway shopping on sunday, though.
