something so that you could stay up late, and ring in the new years (IF YOU WISH)
A COOKING PARTY! just invite a few close friends and pick several choice dishes to make starting in the evening.
i don't know if you know how to make divinity, but it is a good dessert to have and from what i have heard you turn the oven on while you make it, then you turn the oven off, put the batter in, and let it sit in the closed oven all night.
you could stay up to wait on the divinity, or start the divinity earlier and then have it be ready at midnight, or just miss that all together and go to sleep once you make it. then it will be a pleasant surprise in the morning!

Aww. My cat does the same thing, and this causes him to snore. I find it utterly adorable.
