Weighing In

2006_08_10 01.jpg

For some odd reason, there is an old balance beam scale sitting on the corner of Van Brunt and Visitation. I believe that it appeared some time Tuesday night but I noticed it Wednesday morning while walking to the bus and had to restrain myself from hopping on to see if it worked.

In the evening, while sitting on my fire escape for about twenty minutes, I witnessed no less than five people adjust the beam and step on. Based on their quick departures, I don't think it works. Regardless, it makes for excellent armchair observation. So far 100% of the street testers have been male.

I almost brought it up last night at midnight to weigh Olga.

You missed it. I brought them all down together in a large pillowcase. The weigh-in was disappointing since Irving is no longer portly. It's up to the Robettes to keep up the porker standard.

Do they still collectively weigh 60 lbs, or do you have to go back and edit the "Red Hook ain't nothing without our 60lbs of cat"?

Why did restrain yourself??

Dangit. It remembered me and I posted again with the wrong URL. There. That's me now. Hi.

I think Olga and Frieda have made up for Irving's losses.

Restrain-- well, I generally refrain from stepping on scales in the first place, particularly public ones.

why do you refrain from stepping on scales?

Oh I totally missed the word "scale." I thought it was just a balance beam.
