Being Blunt, Evening Edition

It seems that the far corner of subway cars is quite conducive to joint rolling. On my way home last night I took a seat next to a near comatose boy who appeared to groove slightly to his musicuntil I happened to glance over at his CD player and noticed that it was not on. At one point his buddy, who sat across from us and looked a little off, reached into his sock, pulled out a bag of weed and starting doing his thing.

He dropped bits of seed and stems everywhere. Every so often he would pause, look up and laugh rather manically. We all tried not to look but honestly, he was a bit of a train wreck and it was the only other entertainment besides subway ads. When the job was complete, he tucked both the bag and the joint back into his sock, slouched further down in his seat and seemed to fall asleep with all of the detritus scattered across his pants, the seat and the floor. Then, about twenty minutes later, he put one hand to the side of his face, started to giggle and periodically lobbed large gobs of phlegm-infused spit onto the wall of the train car, causing it to spatter and drip everywhere, including his own arm and leg.

This was still happening when I got off the train. No one around him looked pleased.

What no plain-clothes to cuff the guy this time?

Nope, no arrests, though it was my first instinct to peer about the train car looking for possible undercover officers.

i once ended up on a gang train, first car on the F. about 40 guys, all in the same clothes, listening to music, smoking cigarillos, drinking... and not to sound racist, but being the only chick (and the only white chick, at that) was a frightening feeling.

god, I hate teenagers. sure, roll your joint on the train if you must. but throwing spit on the train wall? (gag) disgusting.

oh, i didn't find this frightening at all. amusing, yes. gross, definitely.

i find public spitting of any kind really stomach churning...the only time I ever do it is when I am running long (like marathon training) distances.
