Back to the Walk

2005-12-10elbowt1.jpg

Yay! Lex and I finally returned to our walking routine this weekend. We purposely scheduled things lightly, if not at all, in order to slow ourselves down and nestle into our new home. Despite the cold, we managed to hit a number of neighborhoods, gaze at all things big and little, and still get home in time to screw up cooking a roasted chicken.

Nothing beats slowing down. I cannot imagine going through life without being able to stop and investigate the details of my surroundings. Without the small things, I do not feel whole.

Now it is time to write my final exam. I will resurface on Thursday, hopefully after handing the damn thing in without grappling with a transit strike.

When Christine was little one of our favorite things to do was take a walk to the Adriance Farm just down Little Neck Parkway and just walk. There was a small trail through some brush that we would explore. Sometimes her best bud Bonnie would walk with us. I have some great memories and photos (yes, the family obsession) of those adventures. We still both enjoy strolling through neighborhoods near and far, but usually not together (not cool). Yes, we take lots of pictures. It's the best.
