Contemplation

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why does one require an entire day off to vote? Especially when the candidates, um, suck?

Well, most of them do. Then again, perhaps rent is too damn high.

Who gets a day off? Not me, that's for sure. Besides, where I live, all voting is now by mail.

Frankly, I like the idea of making the day a total holiday and celebration as well as a right and responsibility. We don't have enough parties.

If giving someone the day off is all it takes to get them to vote then, by God, make it an official holiday.

On one hand, I don't want to vote for Bloomberg because of the RNC convention debacle last year. Being an avid cyclist, I was rather ticked off about the treatment of the critical mass protestors. On the other, I think Freddy Ferrar is an ass. He doesn't give me the warm fuzzies nor do I trust in his abilities to manage the city. Disappointing really..

Seriously. That we have President's Day (?) or Columbus Day (??) off but not the day we do our bit is a scandal.

FYI: Rent is too damn high guy blames the Jews for the rent being too damn high. Too bad: he's got a catchy jingle.

This is the first year for me that I have the day off-- I guess universities need to provide a lot of time for their students to push some levers.

Will-- yeah, I was not advocating for the rent is too damn high guy (his platform is actually kind of creepy, if you read closely)-- but I love the jingle, too.

I read about the Rent is Too Damn High guy in the voting guide the other day! His answer for all of the questions was that rent is too damn high. I do totally agree. Bernie Goetz is also running. Crazy. And there's someone running for something who is REALLY ANGRY about the smoking ban.

I didn't know that the rent is too damn high dude blamed it all on jewish folks. I voted green today because I think it's wrong that in a society where there are 18 different brands of cough syrup at the local duane reade - that my choices have to whittled down to 2 way substandard choices. It's like the Bush -Kerry campaign all over again. It's like the TimeWarner - Cablevision duopoly. Why can't I get the Food Network in Bed-Stuy? Enjoy your day off! Today is meeting day - our goal, align our rhetoric with our actions.

Schools are used as polling places, at least in most areas. The students and staff have to get out of the way of the poll workers, like I was for a few election turns. Also, it would be disruptive to the classes to have voters wandering about the halls.
What's Madame Olga looking for there? Has The Great Cat Convergance happened yet?

First of all, JIMMY MCMILLAN himself was at my polling site today. In person, and breaking a number of campaign laws by electioneering within like 3 feet of the door.

Secondly, it is worth voting today to VOTE YES on PROP TWO, the transportation bond act. I am currently on a break from what will be 10 hours of handing out palm cards at the polls for it.

Word.
