Before & After

Kitchen, after 3 weeks of work

It might be a little hard to tell, but some major transformations have occurred at the new apartment this month. Finally, after three weeks of scrubbing, priming, painting, and a whole lot of wobbly ladders and sore bodies, we are ready to move in.

Images and postings might be a little sporadic for the next week, as we are dining with the families for Turkey Day, packing, and doing the move on Sunday. I hope that we will have a few days to go outside and snap some photos during daylight-- an event that has been sorely lacking for the past month.

didn't you not want to live in red hook? or was that somewhere else you didn't want to live? what changed your mind?

Enjoy your Turkey Day, and good luck with the move. When do all 50 pounds of cat meet?

It's not that I didn't want to live in Red Hook...it's more like we were weighing the pros and cons of living in a neighborhood that was/is not incredibly accessible. The bottom line, however, was that this apartment was too good to pass up, both deal-wise and size-wise.

We will probably get a car somewhere down the line so that we can get things in an emergency (nothing is really open past 10pm and there are no drug stores, etc). Someday, the Fairway will open down the street and then we will have a supermarket :)

As for the cats..soon, we hope, soon.

I love the contrast between the before picture (taken at night) and the after picture (taken during the day). Before: dark, dreary, worn down; After: bright, sunny, fresh.

wow, a car. that's crazy! (you should register it at your parent's place, which is technically insurance fraud...but you don't have to admit to it here.)

did you redo the floors or is that just the light?

Just the light. The floors need to be redone but we are too tired to even think about it now. We need some molding at the base of the floors and walls, too, but the fact that we don't own this place kind of inhibits me from wanting to do any more renovation-like work for a while!
