The Eagle Hen has Landed

Otherwise Known As: Operation Grandma Dropgrandma.jpg

Some weekend milestones:

Dimsum turned a whopping one year old on Saturday, causing Lex and I to marvel at the wonder of growth. My little nephew has almost four teeth, can toddle around like a drunken sailor, and likes to growl. And, oh yes--

On Tuesday, my Grandmother turned 83 and yesterday, SHE PARACHUTED OUT OF A PLANE.

Last year, my Grandmother wanted to fly in a WWII fighter plane. Her children found a way for it to happen. The thrill bug must have fully bitten her, however, as this year she announced that skydiving was her one wish-- tandem, so that she could cling to a handsome young instructor.

Lex and I were incredibly bummed that we could not make it out to Calverton to see Grandma jump. I spent most of the day anxious, calling my father to inquire as to when the drop occured. At around 5pm, I recieved an email with the title "The Hen has Landed" and a body that ended with:

She's all pumped up and says she'll do it again next year.

You know that wonder of growth that I mentioned earlier? Double that.

It should be noted that your Grandmother announced her triumph to me as "The Eagle has Landed" but I was forced to differ over the description - "Hen" is so much more appropriate. I can almost see feathers drifting down around her after she was back on terra firma.

Grandma is far braver than I!

Maybe we can have a Trancho-Robie skydiving event the day inbetween our rehearsal dinner and wedding.

Awesomely kick-ass Bubbe there, Corie. She even makes the rigging look cool. Little Dimsum is adorable too.
