Hypnosis

2005-09-02 hypnosis.jpg

Somehow, one of our hosts managed to "hypnotize" this lobster, getting it to stand in a pyramid-like form for about a minute or two before it realized what was up and crawled slowly across the table.

She said that a similar type of hypnosis could be done with chickens, but we all agreed that such activities were most likely the result of animals/crustaceans with very small brains.

Can't wait to try this at our next Holiday Party at work! I can think of a few excellent subjects.

True! If you hold a chicken's head (chin down) on the ground and draw a line out from their beak, you can let go and they won't move for a minute. They have bad depth perception, and the line drawn so close to the face confuses the brain and it takes them a while to figure out how to move. But back off man, that's MY party trick! Did you have a good time in Maine?

Maine was beautiful. It was very hard to return home to Brooklyn.

Maybe the lobster thought if he did the trick you wouldn't eat him.

What beautiful photographs...especially Maine.

Gee, I stayed home on Labor Day and tried to get every person I know to make some sort of contribution to the Gulf region. But I guess hypnotizing lobsters and waxing poetically about the stars in Maine was contribution enough. If you really want to do something, why not send your pocket change or 'mad money' to bushclintonkatrinafund.org

perhaps it did not occur to you that we could and did do both.

Corie, I do not know you personally, and I'm hoping that Steve does, or that he is being sarcastic, or that it's a running joke between the two of you, because otherwise, WOW, what an inappropriate thing to say.

I'm with Breana on that one...
Glad you guys had a great trip and returned safely- and many compliments on the photos. You have talent, girl! (I love the lobster- too funny!)

A lesson to learn from the horrific tragedy of Katrina might be to treasure the beautiful moments and people in your life. Compassion and love are much needed in this world.
