High Expectations

Who knew? I guess that, six years after graduation, I should have $1,875 lingering around in my bank account for junior philanthropic activities. Liberal arts degrees definitely give you that pocket change.

I received a similar "invitation" recently and thought to myself, "Hmmm, don't they remember I graduated from the journalism department? Journalism majors don't make any money! Try the marketing department grads."

When my alma mater called, the chirpy freshman English major suggested a donation of $100. Two years after graduation. I told him I don't believe in giving to the annual fund until I've paid off my student loans. On principle. I wanted to say, "Look, English major to English major - you're not going to have an extra $100 that you feel like giving to your school. Pish."
