Pippin Stands Alone
Sometimes, redevelopment gives us a brief yet interesting view into the past.
Whole Foods is moving slowly into Park Slope. They began the process of dismantling the warehouses around the Pippin building this spring. Today, they are completely torn down, revealing what Pippin looked like long ago, back when it was the Brooklyn Improvement Company, sans the trees and trolley tracks (was it a trolley on Third Avenue?).

In other news... Lex and I are off to LA this morning to introduce our parents to one another. And, as a small sidebar that ties old buildings to Almost Husbands, the Pippin building was the first piece of conversation Lex and I had with one another, albeit virtually.

Those COWS from May 2003 or whenver are literally called Oreo Cows. And they had obviously been out most of the winter, to develop that wooly appearance.
My neighbour has dozens, and loves them intensely. There were about 8 babies roaming in my field this morning, it was a pleasant sight.
