Cleanout 2005

2005-06-08 butlerst.jpgTwo very important events that require boxes and give-aways are coming up: my departure from my place of employment (6/28) and the Lexacor merger (est.: Fall 2005).

Thankfully, my office moved last spring, which forced me to throw out a lot of the useless crap that was generating dust in a file cabinet or drawer. My apartment, on the other hand, contains many a stoop sale item, and when you survey Lex and my belongings, it can be quite easily deduced that we have duplicates, duplicates, duplicates. 13 television, anyone? DVD? What about a tiny computer table? A book or two? Maybe a cat?

As we not so slowly slip into mid-summer, I have decided to dedicate the next month and a half to paring down. My cubicle will be the first initiativeprobably the quickest. I might float a few things through this website and will definitely investigate Craigs List (I like the you want it, move your ass and come get it mentality).

So, first order of business: Who wants a vintage Macintosh? It would make a great doorstop, ottoman, or aquarium. I would take it home myself but it weighs way to much for me to bother withand is sure to sit on my floor collecting dust, just as it has for the past six years on my office desk. But it sure is cute

For a few minutes I had no recollection of having taken that photo; nor could I identify the location in which it was taken. How could that sombrero, which I pass daily, have slipped from my consciousness. I hope a certain group of downstairs neighbors have not tapped into your blog...incriminating evidence indeed.

yeah, it looks like sugar was involved...since you have a huge box of nerds in your hand.

Whatevs, Cheesebus! I say when the shit hits the fan in the old place (which it will, I am sure) we steal the hat. It is so meant to be ours.

Tien, yes, they were rainbow nerds, given to me by David aka Skutchie, as a happy Pride present.

oooh. that happened to me last year-- heaved the whole thing into the window only to discover that it died. that really sucked.

The dog days of summer find me standing in front of our cooling unit at work. I button my lab coat, stand with my back inches from the vents and relish the cold, cold air inflating the lab coat and chilling my immobile form. True, there is a frightening resemblance to a Medico-Pillbury Dough-Tech, but that's someone elses' nightmare. Yes, I do move away as needed during the course of the day, but oh, baby, that's my summer spot. Now where did I put my fan-cap?
