Cat Hunting

So, apparently in places like, um, Wisconsin, feral cats can now be hunted because they kill too many birds. One could go all PETA about this and say that humans should be hunted because they eat too many cows per annum (please note that I am neither a vegetarian nor a PETA supporter, I am just being SARCASTIC), but we will not go there.
Good thing my felines are indoor cats that lives in Brooklyn. Otherwise, someone out there might be eating an Olive-kabob at their campfire after a successful kitty hunt.
Unrelated, isn't Olive getting funnier looking with age?

, WTF?
I think Irving would make an excellent brisket. It's all about slow cooking with moderate heat.

and olga would make a splendid rump roast.

the hunting is not yet approved in Wisconsin - some state agencies must approve and the politicians are trying to avoid getting involved.
from what i've been told, a family of four could winter-over on a side of Olga beef.
i think that Callie would fall into the jerky category.

It's a real problem here. They're having debates between the people who want to catch, spay or neuter and release the feral colonies back into the wild and those who just want to catch and kill.
Hunting hasn't been considered, as far as I know. Maybe in other Texas towns--the first day of various hunting seasons is a school holiday in places.
Tell you what though, I'm a bit tired of the feral cats making feral kittens outside my house in the middle of the night. And I'm really tired of the feral litter box that my front garden seems to have become.

Beautiful and expressive eyes!

As a result of a particularly nasty shoe vs litterbox episode, I did threaten Fritzina with a trip to the Chinese restaurant down the block.
Fritzie is long gone, but she must be rolling in catnip heaven thinking it really is possible to be on the menu. Me-ow!
Rascal, Elliot and Monet express their shock and disgust by napping excessively.

I say gather all the feral cats and release them on all the damn geese that are crap-coating our wonderful lakeside park walkways.

They've been discussing this in Wisc. for years. As a former Wisconsinite, Madisonian, and cat lover, I had to listen to the constant bickering about this for years. Wisc. Public Radio would have call-in shows devoted just to this topic. I never understood why anyone would want to hunt ferral cats.
They have had several articles about it on www.madison.com.
Please note that not all cheeseheads support this stupidity.

Olive always says nice things about you!

And yes, this is a very emotional debate. All cats, unfortunately, should be house cats, because of the terrible things that can happen to them. There are such large numbers of feral cats living all over the US, and they suffer badly.
It would be best if they at least could be euthanized. I can see a lot of tragedy happening from an edict giving gun toters carte blanche.
