All Ears

2005-01-09 ears.jpg

There seems to be a marathon cold/flu going around. I slept for nearly three days straight, felt better yesterday, and then woke this morning feeling cruddy once more.

My main solace this weekend were my fuzzy cat ears (Well, it is really a hat that I refuse to wear public...yet I post it for the world to see here. Hmm.), which were warm and made me feel like I was wearing feline feety pajamas on my head.

Last night I got to thinking that fuzzy mittens with pink paw pads would be the perfect addition to the ensemble. Maybe they would make my tummy feel better, too.

i don't know why you can't wear those out. just mumble to yourself while walking around and it would be perfect.

who's to say that i don't partake in talking to myself on the street already??

And they cheered me up too!

oh my gosh that hat is so fantastic. i'd wear it outside in a second.

The problem with it is that it has these long pom-pomed earflaps (which I purposely hid). Plus, I have a really small head.

Maybe I'll wear it in public if Tien will walk with me and wear his paw-scarf.

but it's not my paw scarf! i guess i could borrow it from work one day. i could wear your hat and you can wear the scarf. but my huge head would stretch it out.

I've got some purple and green monster glo-mitts to throw into the animal winter wear kingdom :)

oh, lex has already worn the cat ear hat-- it has a lot of give, so it would fit your big head, tien. monster glomitts! i want to know why no one has created cat paw glomitts with pink paw pads. hmmph.

hurry up and patent the idea.

Posted by: tien at January 10, 2005 4:03 PM

this doesn't make you look crazy at all

i HAVE those mittens- they came attached to a fleece hoodie i have, but i fear i will ruin them so i never wear them out. stupid? yes!

"oh, lex has already worn the cat ear hat"
And its quite comfy. I may be stealing it when I get a chance.

Love the new banner.

Its very much going round in the UK too, ive had it for about 5 weeks now. The course of events is: feel lousy during the week, struggle on at work with the occasional day off, feel a bit better come the weekend, go out, end up having no sleep and a massive hangover, repeat! I will never learn.

Oh, and the best thing to wear when off sick is definately toe socks.

Posted by: discostu at January 11, 2005 4:20 AM

Well I would wear it in public! Maybe I could get some talented person to knit me one in black, and add whiskers... *thinks*

Feel better soon ,Stu. I hope you're taking echinacea and zinc, young man!

Thanks bev, its just the kind of low grade cold now that lingers on for ages. I am taking brandy and eating chocolate instead.

Posted by: discostu at January 11, 2005 8:19 AM

wait. nicole, you have PAW PAD mittens???

Posted by: corie at January 11, 2005 2:34 PM

oh corie, YES! black and pink for the pads.

Posted by: nicole at January 11, 2005 8:20 PM

i'm very jealous.

Posted by: corie at January 12, 2005 9:13 AM

email me your address and i'll send them to you. i've never worn them.

Posted by: nicole at January 12, 2005 7:14 PM

I happen to insist on wearing a knit cap with pig ears and snout (and a little tail). Ears with animal ears are the BEST.

Where oh where did the kitty hat (or pattern) come from? I LOVE the ears!

I have a thick black cat hat with super long earflaps (dangle down to midthigh unless I wind them around my neck) for cold weather, and have found that wearing it really DOES make you feel better. So now I want more for moderately cool weather...

i got the hat from a small children's store in park slope, brooklyn. i think it was called firefly.
