Have I Ever Mentioned that I Hate You?

No? We'll let me tell you now. Mom, I hate you. Just because there's a ribbon doesn't mean that it should be tied around my head. Every time.

OK. This reminds me of a comment I made to my wife some time ago. Around our house there are a lot of disposable items that will eventually make it into the garbage, but in the meantime are durable enough or not damaging to the two toddlers to dispose of immediately. I have caught both my wife and myself responding to an irate toddler by handing them one of these items (as examples an empty shoebox, empty envelope, plastic watch case, give-away frisby) in order to appease their demands for a minute.
What I remember saying to my wife was this: "Just because we don't want it doesn't make it a toy".
Whether that relates to the photo and caption or not I can't say for sure, but it certainly spurred the memory.
Cheers.

this is coming from a father who put horn rimmed glasses on his infant and photographed her...not to mention knee socks and a cigar on his sheepdog.

Hi there,
It's 4:30 a.m. where I live and I'm up because one of our cats has his eye swollen shut. I was searching the net about this and hit your site :-) Yayy! Awesome blog!
Anyway, I initially found your post linked here >> http://www.callalillie.com/archives/2003/08/the_cat_has_all.html
and wanted to offer an observation.
Cats (and dogs I assume) can develop a rare problem with their mast cells, which are the basis of the immune system in animals and people. In people, this problem has a name which is mastocytosis. Some of the symptoms are breakouts. As well, heat really aggravates it (as can extreme cold). I blog about it a bit but anyway, I just wanted to share this with you in case you've noticed this being a continued pattern with your kitty :-) The treatment is mostly just antihistamines. What happens is the mast cells degranulate as if there is an allergy and can cause severe allergic reactions.
Just thought this might help or be of interest.:-) Love the cat pics!
I'll be calling my vet as soon as they open in a couple hours....ugh

Oh Irving... What have they done?
Sometimes, I make a hanky into a triangle and put it on Bruno the cat's head, because it makes him look like a little old woman...
*hangs head in shame*

The funny thing is that he tolerated it for several minutes. Beaten down, I say, beaten down.

That means he has great plans for revenge and is just biding his time...
