All You Can Eat

All-you-can-eat scenarios always escape me. Blatantly put, I am a waste of money when it comes to buffets for prix fixed smorgasbords. Sure, put a jumbo tub of popcorn in front of me when I am alone and watching L&O or CSI marathons and it will be gone in seconds, but public gluttony has never been my strong point. Add many pounds of rice that expand in your stomach over time, and I am done for.

One of Skutchie's NYC traditions was all-you-can-eat sushi at Yuki on E80th and 3rd. I had never gone precisely because of the above reasons, however my gay husband was in town, and I couldn't let him roam the city without me.

One rainbow role, miso soup, and a list of rules later, I found myself sitting at a back table in Yuki, observing an three gay men inhale a sushi extravaganza, involving nearly four platters of sushi and Skutchie commanding Eat, eat, if you don't eat it we will be CHARGED for it.

I miss my Skutchie.

I know! Skutchie sightings are rare these days...sniffle.

It was $18 for 2 hours of all you can eat. They ordered in waves. I think you could pretty much order any regular kind of sushi roll and sashimi. The special rolls were extra. It was more sushi than I've seen in a long time.

All you can eat sushi may be the best kind of all you can eat going. There was an all you can eat chinese buffet on my college campus, and it was basically a ticket to ride the porcealin pony for one hour. Ugh.
