Lex & the broken car
My father has changed a lot since his retirement. On the other hand, perhaps it is not change so much as reversion back to a calmer, happier man with fewer worries. It might be a chicken or egg scenario, but either way my father is enjoying himself more that I have seen him do so in my lifetime. It is pretty neat.
Dad, Lex, and I took a little excursion on the day after Christmas to an abandoned gravel yard. Both Lex and my father love old rusty machinery and I am a sucker for an old, demolished car, so the trip was perfect. [Well, almost perfect. The fact that we were going out exploring with my father meant that we couldn't play with his camera :P ] We split up and wandered all over the site, sticking our heads in places that we shouldn't have and shoving camera lenses into broken windows.
I watched my father from afar and suddenly felt very proud. He is finally doing something that makes him incredibly content. It is such a good feeling to see your parents come into their own.

You sound like a proud mama bird. That second picture of the handle is great- it looks like you digitally altered it
