Balance

I would never consider myself a connoisseur of balance. In fact, I think the term imbalanced has been attributed to me on many occasions (usually followed up by medicated), along with unbalanced (usually coupled with klutz). I will never be a Zen person, nor will I ever truly transcend the all or nothing ethic that has monopolized my lifestyle since I was a child. I am getting better at it, but the gray area is still small.
In the world of all or nothing, one tends to obsess over certain things. I go through cycles, engage in various quests, and inevitably find something I like and stick to it until something else usurps its throne.
Introduced to me by my Zone-infested parents in the mid 1990’s, yogurt honey peanut Balance Bars (affectionately known as YHP) are one obsession that I have never lost my love for. ONLY yogurt honey peanut. Not chocolate, not cookie dough, not any berry cream flavor. In fact, I find them all repulsive, as I do with most energy bars. YHP, however, is like a little heaven in a diet bar. Sometimes I even choose them over regular chocolate bars.
In the past, I have acquired entire boxes of them, consuming bars for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I have only once tired of the flavor (I think that I was actually eating them for three all meals at the time—further evidence of all or nothing, and a definite contributor to a stomach ache).
Thankfully, YHPs have been falling into the small grey area as of late—lunch, coupled with a nice banana—and sometimes I am so eager to have the yummy synthetic concoction that my lunch hour borders on 11am. Like today.
Which is why I am so hungry that I could eat my houeplant and about to raid our office vending machine.

yet one more thing that CFH and I have in common. Thank goodness for multivitamins or I would be horribly malnurished and more pale than I already am. This ties into my second affirming vociferation of the day, that being: Thank goodness for tanning salon memberships.

I think I'd rather eat a houseplant than a Yogurt Honey Peanut Balance Bar. Of course, the only energy bar I've ever found palatable is a Cookies-N-Cream PowerBar... maybe everyone just has one flavor they can handle.

You can get a membership at a tanning salon??
Ick. I hate the cookies and cream. I think that it just has to do with personal taste. The one thing I really dislike is the PowerBar. They taste like really bad candy.
