damn, irving needs to go on atkins or something.

hey! don't rag on my portly beast. remember, olive is only 6 months old and 5lbs. there will be less of a contrast soon.

well, i guess irving will still be a wide load.

A truly adorable picture.
They are really "joined at the hip" friends

you hope there will be less of a contrast. you should get irving a banner that says "wide load" for festivus.

at least i have a chair that can support his girth. flattering, you know?

yes, they are good kitty friends. they like one another better than their owner, at times.

nice. the one thing i did learn over the weekend is that you can't really tell the fatness of a cat from when they sit, since their legs make their bodies a lot wider.

I challenge irving to a girth duel!

Posted by: Olga at November 29, 2004 6:15 PM

girth? amateurs!

but of course your cats are more photogenic.

Posted by: corie at November 29, 2004 11:01 PM

such sweeties!
louise and i had a traumatic vet visit over thanksgiving: dr. murrell gently told us that weezie gained 2 pounds, and suggested i "use a measuring cup." like it's my fault that she is a gourmand!

How heavy is Irving? I have a heavy cat too (18 lbs), but no other cat to compare to. I have always wanted to get a second cat, but worried that my one will get very jealous... did you have that problem?

Posted by: yuko at November 30, 2004 11:45 AM

i want to steal that chair! ilove it

Posted by: rachelle at November 30, 2004 11:55 AM

it's his winter fur that makes him look so big!

yuko, irving is about 13lbs. the vet actually told me that he's not overweight, just a big cat with a little paunch. he used to be heavier, though.

he adjusted well to the other cat, much better than i'd ever expected. now, if i could only get him to adjust to the boyfriend.

I love this picture. I have six cats and one weights 26lbs. He is a gentle giant, but dwarfs his brothers & sisters. Great shot.

I love your kitties! I have 3 myself. I enjoy surfing over to your blog to view the pics of your family. Max, my orange male tabby, is about 18lbs. Scout, the salmon female tabby about 16lbs,and Scout, the grey kitty, is about 12 lbs.I guess everyone needs to go on a diet!
