Secure Transportation

I've been noticing this phenomenon for a while. I guess strollers are just too heavy to lug up the stairs sometimes. In this family's case, they have twins and have enough trouble getting the two kids up the steps.

I was on the UWS for brunch a couple weeks ago and there was a virtual PARKING LOT of strollers outside the tiny restaurant. It was odd to see such faith in humanity in such a door-locking, bike-bolting-down city.

At least they were outside. In Park Slope's Union St. Tea Lounge, strollers are parked INSIDE, and it is like navigating an IKEA parking lot to get to the barista line.
I would totally steal an unbolted stroller. Those Bugaboos are like $800. I could pull in some serious cash. :)

In Copenhagen, parents will leave their strollers in the street without locks when they go in to shop, eat, whatever.
What really is amazing to most people new to their culture is that they often leave the babies, unattended, in the strollers too.
Corie, would you take the baby too (mad ransom cash!) or just the stroller? :)

Only if the kid was cute. You can get a lot for them on the black market, too.

i met a guy last year who had patented a type of stroller that could 'walk' up or down stairs, using a mechanism that would smoothly negotiate steps. wonder when that will come out. i guess it probably has to be extensively tested before they'd turn them loose on the subway.

Didn't some Danish parents get arrested in NYC for leaving their kid in a stroller outside a cafe?

I remember that. Better than the parents that were letting their two year old roll all over the 7th Avenue pizza place's floor the other night. The mother turned to us and said (sarcastically): Yes, we try to pick up as many germs and bacteria as we can in a given day. He still hasn't met his quota for the night.

I bet there's only one baby for that twin stroller and the brat just likes to put his feet up!
