Only in Park Slope

Yet another reason to pine for November 3. And for someone to fix that boarded up brownstone already. Sheesh. You would think it would have been snatched up and turned into coops by now. Everything else in Park Slope has.

Side note: Has anyone else noticed the influx of graffiti throughout the city over the past month or so? Brooklyn has been bombed as of late. Also, an increase of people begging in the subway. Both make me sad (the graf because it is ugly and tag-like).

I keep seeing a lot of sidewalk graffiti in Cobble Hill reading "Osama Votes for Kerry".
WTF?
Someone invariably writes "BUSH" over it in chalk. Then someone else writes "KERRY". Ad infinitum.

I've seen that, too. It's really ugly. If you're going to write on walls and argue about politics, at least use a pretty color of krylon.

The subways always get worse when the cold weather rolls in...

This seems different, though. I've weathered many season changes...in the past few years it's been rare to see 2 or more people begging in your subway car during a 20 minute duration.

I've noticed the opposite with the subway begging, even to the extent of seeing fewer kids "raising money for their basketball team".

On the other hand, at least on the 2/3 on the UWS and Harlem I've seen a lot more graffiti on the station walls across the tracks from the platform. I assume it is only a matter of time before either gets run over or zapped by the third rail.

I like the kids who come on and say that they're not raising money for a team, just for themselves. They crack me up.
