Night of the Jackhammer

Does road work always happen at night? I'd assume that doing so would solve a lot of traffic woes, though I had never seen heard such night owl work first hand.

Last night a road crew was jackhammering on 7th Avenue until at least 12am. The noise was unbelievable, probably due to the fact that Park Slope is usually very quiet-- so noise is much more noticeable. Regardless, it was LOUD. And LATE.

Side Note
I had no idea that jackhammering had a Googlized sexual connotation. Silly, I understand the comparison, but I was surprised to find, while searching for a picture of a jackhammer for this post, a slew of...um...inappropriate sites. I would think that Jack Hammer would make a good porn star name (I’m sure it’s already taken), as well. My poor little eyes. Such innocence, I tell you, such innocence.

You know, anything involving road work has a sexual connotation to it. Observe:

Pipe Layer
Manhole
Hard Hat
Underpinning
Pile Driver
Yield sign
and
Payload

Hmm...I guess I just never put that much thought into it...
