Homesick

Muriel has big whiskers...

Callie has a big butt.
This weekend I escaped to VT for a little parental QT and a brief hiatus from the frenzy that had become last week's NYC.
I do not get up to New England nearly as much as I would like to. The leaves are already starting to turn, marking the beginning of my favorite season-- fall. The air was cool and crisp; we even lit a fire on Sunday. You cannot beat sitting with a book in front of a fire (in a working fireplace, no less!). And in my family, that equation also involves a nice 4pm drink. No, you cannot beat that.
Still, I could not help but find my mind wandering back to Brooklyn. I have always felt conflicted between my love for the city and my comfort with New England. The longer I live here, it seems, the less and less inclined I am to leave. Sure, everyone wants and needs a vacation now and again, however lately I have been less apt to want to go away, even for a weekend. I'm not quite sure what's up with that.
Am I turning into a 26-year-old hermit, or a city citizen content with her location? Or have I quite simply, and finally, found myself a real home?

don't feel bad, my roommate is supposed to be cooking Mr Bones' food too, although its purpose is for weight loss.
i just visited my family in california recently, and although it was most relaxing and pleasant, i couldn't wait to get back here. brooklyn may just suit you. you don't have to be a hermit though! however, you cannot long escape the crazy cat lady.
