Feline Update

More cats? Why? Because it's been cited that there's been a lack of kitty pictures as of late. And because I am, after all, en route-- if not already one toe over the edge-- to personifying crazy cat lady.
Irving is doing a little bit better. The poor cat was in gastro-intestinal mayhem for a few weeks, and aside from grossing me (and most of my rugs) out completely, I've been very worried and sad for him.
When I got back from VT things looked pretty bad. I began to feel him plain ground turkey and rice for a few days, which made him a little better (though I fear that I might have constipated the poor thing). He is still throwing up every day, however the...er...content is a little better...and I'll stop this portion of the update right here before it gets grosser than it already is.
Olive is rolling with the punches. She is quite the odd little kitten. I'm wondering if she will grow out of her bug-eyes and loud, attention seeking squeal (I love that squeal-- it's almost like a scream).
Her favorite activities as of late are batting pencils across the floor, running in circles inside the bathtub, and attacking her brother by flinging her arms around his neck like a kitten cape. She is very hard to capture on film because it is rare that she is sitting still. When she is, she promptly tries to eat my lens cap.

hmm, you must be a crazy cat lady if you're lying down to take those pictures.
although i guess i would do the same if i wanted to capture the same thing.

Leroy is a squealer. For a while I was afraid he'd grow out of it and just start meowing like any other cat, but he's over a year old now and still squuuueeks when he wants attention. It's cute.

Olive WAILS. It makes me wonder if she has some recessive siamese trait in her.

Sorry to hear that Irving is still feeling poorly. It may not be of much help, but my little daughter Gena had a similar situation which the docs diagnosed as a cycle of irritation and vomiting. She had developed gastric reflux after a surgical procedure. This irritated the lining of her stomach and esophagus. This in turn caused vomiting; vomiting further irritated her stomach lining, especially at the delicate junction with the esophagus; this led to more vomiting, more irritation, etc. The solution was to put our lil patootie on i.v. nutrition for several days -- nothing at all by mouth -- until the stomach lining healed. That, plus a routine of Prilosec pretty much solved the problem.
Of course cats aren't people -- even if Irving does bear a strange resemblance to Jeff Bridges.

Olive is so cute! I just added a 2 year old cat to the mix with my old man cat, Mickey (he's a survivor of the last Category 5 hurricane that hit Florida...Andrew...they air lifted lost pets up to DC for adoption). They are still trying to figure each other out. And I have to put a plastic tablecloth over my bed each morning when I leave work since my "kitten" Tootsie tends to like to leave "surprises" on the bed if I get home late or she doesn't like the state of her litter box. It has to be cleaned twice a day or else I pay the price. Those of us with pets have to deal with grossness on occasion...it comes with the territory. But they are still so cute!

In that second photo, I imagine Irving about to say, "Here dude, *cough* smoke this."

It's more like Hey dude, check out the pile of barf I left on the hallway rug....

hahaha! if she's anything like the rest of her family, she'll probably buckle to peer pressure.
