Name that Baby
My best friend in the whole world is due to have a baby in late October/early November. Having heard her most recent name pick, I have decided that desperate measures must be taken. Today I launch the Name that Baby Campaign.
Please help my friend pick a new and better (anything could be better) name for her boy-child
for his sake, as children can be awfully mean and even the most well intentioned names can be manipulated into something horrid.
As my friend and her husband conceived their child in Park Slope, I have taken up the duty of representing all Names that Might Be Heard at the Tea Lounge. These include Henry, Leo, Max, Jasper, Collin, Hunter, Hudson, Connor, and Tyler(or). My dear friend has nixed most of these. Personally, I think she should name him Irving or Seymour, but something tells me that I should hamper the urge to suggest such distinctive monikers.
Please help contribute to the cause. The child cannot be labeled with the name in question. If he is, even I might make fun of him.

Ash, Cedric, Darius, Ethan, Foster, Nolan, Jackson, Quinton, Mark, Toby, Travis and Winston
I've also had no problems growing up with my name. Eleven, seven and heaven aren't really mean things to say about someone.

Hmm. I like Jackson and Nolan. I'll have to get the friend in on this. Or she might kill me for having posted this in the first place...though note that I have not listed "The Name."

Rommel was the name of a cousin I was close to. He died of Legionairre's Disease when I was in the 3rd Grade. His was the first funeral I ever attended.

Do you want to change your name to Homer Junior? The kids can call you, "Ho-Ju!"
For some reason, I've always liked the name Ainsley (sp?). I guess it's an old name since you don't her it too often and it was the name of my grandmother's brother. I dunno if I'd actually name a kid that, but, I like the name.

He was in his 20s when he died, I was 7/8 years old. There is more back story concerning that name and my family that happened after he died. Too boring for your comments section though.

Beren -- Our son's name. It's different but not too unusual and we call him Bear as a nickname. It's from the Silmarillion and has a great story. Hope you all don't mind my 2 cents

I posted a nice big response this morning, but the blog ate it, and I can't remember what I said any more. But I quite like Linus; it's been a good name, one that makes you stand up to it.
