NIPS vs. ITZ

Friday Blog Challenge:
Kraft Cheese Nips or Sunshine Cheese Itz?

This is an old, old argument, rekindled by a coworker a few weeks ago with a blind taste test. What really is the difference between the two? I think that one is baked. One is flakier than the other is. I don't know which one is which.

Truthfully, I'm not a fan of cheese flavored crackers (cheese ON a cracker is another story), but the argument is compelling. I think everyone should make a quick trip to the market today during their lunch break to pick up a box of each for an ad-hoc taste test.

Educate me, my lovelies.

i'm going to say that there is a distinct difference in the two. one has a little more "cheese bite" to it than the other. of course, i can't remember which it is now, but it's true.

also, if you try the white cheddar cheese itz, you won't stop eating them. but they do look strange, being so white and all.

isn't one flakier than the other? i seem to remember one being much more messy, while the other more thin and crisp.

i'm with corie - cheese flavored crackers just aren't my thing. but the keebler club crackers with cheese in them are so yummy, you almost forget how gross the cheese must be.

cheese crackers always remind me of an episode of Fishing with John on IFC, when John Lurie and Willem Dafoe went ice fishing and nearly starved to death, eating only cheese-on-cheese crackers.

heheh. cheese on cheese.

ah but the original query remains elusive. here's the answer: cheese nips = pale pretenders to the throne; cheese-its = often imitated, never equaled.

here's a recipe for homemade cheese nips, but why would anybody bother?

Corie to me you are She Who Must Be Obeyed but I cant help you as I only eat cheese based crackers when they are all someone puts on offer; I dont care for them so cant buy them on my own volition ;-)

Hey when the time comes if you want to get together some folk for anti-Bush rallies please let me know, hay hay ho ho GW Bush must go!

Cheez-Itz are the One True Manufactured Cheese Cracker. Less greasy, crisper, more natural cheese flavor (despite the peculiar spelling of the name).

Of course, I say this as both daughter and spouse of Cheez-Itz fans, so you may not be able to trust me.
