Eté Bienvenu

As per tradition, it is the day before I leave for vacation and I am sick. Did I mention that I was going on vacation? Well yes, I am-- to New Mexico for a week, starting tomorrow. So of course, it was fitting that my head would fill up with snot, my glands would swell to the size of plums, and my throat would be on fire just prior to my 8am flight tomorrow morning. I'm not kidding-- this happens every year right before (or during) my week long vacation. Sigh. The germs better make their exit today.
I am just about as excited about returning from vacation as I am about leaving for it-- when I get back, my office switches to 1/2 day Fridays (for me this will be Fridays off), which means that I can dive back into my school building research and begin the photo portion of the project.
Sooo.....this is my long winded way of announcing Callalillie hiatus. See ya'll on the 26th.

Hope you feel better and have a great time! If you're driving south of Albuquerque on I-25 stop in at the Owl Bar in San Antonio for a burger. It will cure what ails you.

Hmm, we'll check it out. I could always go for a good burger.

where in nm are you headed? i grew up in abq and santa fe. just talked to my mom last night and they are in desperate need of rain there. apparently all the trails are closed due to the lack of rain and thus threat of fire. this news totally bummed me out as my husband and i are going out next month and were looking forward to hiking! anyway, have a wonderful trip!

we're staying in santa fe and driving over to taos, i think. i'm really excited-- though it' so sad about the trails being closed. i've never been to NM before.

for a second, i thought owl burger and not owl bar. whoops.
summer fridays - you suck.

you'll love it. it's a beautiful place. if you do drive to taos, you should consider taking the back way which goes through chimayo (where the santaurio is - people pilgrimmage there to get 'holy dirt') and some other new mexican villages. it slightly longer than just taking the main roads, but it is a beautiful drive. in santa fe, be sure to eat at tomasita's - it is relatively inexpensive and they have excellent new mexican food. green chile is the best!

mmmm. southwestern food is my absolute favorite in the entire world. i can't wait.
heheh. yes, tien. fridays off is awesome-- though remember that i generally wind up working the extra 8-10 hours into my 4-day week...

wha? does this mean no philosophical meditations on pens and gray hair for a week? this is why everybody needs wireless network cards! i'm sure you'll feel better once you're in some less humid climate.

Totally. You're lives will be incomplete for at least six days. Try to reflect on the meditations put before you this week and I will quiz you upon my return.

I only work to 2PM on Fridays...all year round.

Didn't Frank Lloyd Wright live most of his later days in the southwest because the dry air helped fight some stuffy-nose condition? Enjoy your vacation.
