Bamboo Sweater

It was laundry/dry cleaning time in the Callalillie household this Sunday morning. I was excited to discover that the sweater sets that I snagged from Century21 were hand washable, though I thought it was a little odd, as the material is really soft and thin—not cashmere by any means, but certainly not cotton.

It turns out that my sweater sets are 70% bamboo.

Bamboo?

I’d never heard of this type of textile for clothing before (though, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m not particularly fashion astute). Sure enough, a quick search revealed that bamboo is, in fact, a textile used in clothing. It is said to be fast drying, however I can attest to the fact that it’s been six hours and my sweaters are still damp.

Does this mean that I shouldn’t wear my comfortable and breathable sweater sets while visiting the zoo or any other habitat that might house pandas, koalas, or other bamboo consuming creatures?

90%-100% humidity tends to extend the drying process. ;-)

True, but I did have a fan right up against them. I guess I'm just impatient. I hate labels that say "hand wash or seek dry cleaning"-- you're never quite sure.
