Just Married!

Uncle B and the Wedding Bouquet (note the calla lilies!)

Despite the threat of a cicada invasion, my cousin's wedding was flawless. It was wonderful to reunite with my aunt, uncle and cousins under such good circumstances.

The ceremony was a simple event beneath a rose arbor in Ault Park. With a lone guitarist strumming in the background and vows written by the bride and the groom, the affair was perfect. Should the situation ever arise in my life, I'd most likely opt for the same type of simplicity-- no blaring DJ forcing guests to do the Funky Chicken, obligatory photos, etc. While every wedding is beautiful in its own right, this one was definitely more my speed. As my Uncle B noted when we couldn't find Cousin B for post-wedding pictures, Eh, you know. It's not like we're at the Olive Garden.

Let's not forget to mention the fabulous food. I was too drunk (and concentrating way too hard on balancing in my heels) to photograph things, but the frites and crostini with herbed goat cheese and beets were out of this world and the wine-- perfecto. Back in the County of Kings, I'm nursing a minor hangover and smiling at my new family pictures.

yeah, i'm pretty much a hybrid. when i have short hair people say my mom, long hair, my dad. all of my wedding reception pictures are dark and blurry and tend to involve a glass of alcohol or someone shoving food in their mouths...

Those are beautiful pictures, and what a beautiful bride. You and your parents look great.

hmm, someone shoving food in their mouth...sounds really familiar.

No way. It's all Mom. 100% duplicate of Mom.

What? No pics of cicadas? or Drunk cicadas (that'd be better). Looks like a beautiful place for a wedding.

Sadly (well, not really), there weren't many cicadas to be seen. One fle directly into my eye, but no others really bothered us. They were just this din all around us...but stayed up in the trees doing whatever cicadas do.
