Ronald Reagan University

A former employer of mine insisted that Ronald Reagan was the greatest president that ever lived. Next to Nixon, of course.

When confronted with such opinions, I usually find myself rather flabbergasted, defeated by my own complete inability to comprehend the statement.

Which is why the Ronald Reagan University just leaves me speechless. According to The New York Times, the university will be established in Colorado, just outside of Denver. It will house 10,000 students with SAT scores of at least 1400 and 2,000 faculty.

I’m assuming that the official RRU gear will include mandatory Stetsons, and that the palate cleansing dish between each dining course will be Ronald Reagan Jelly Beans.

Good lord. Isn't it enough that there's an airport dedicated to the man? If Bush is reelected and the RRU opens it doors in the same year, I think I really might need to make that permanent move overseas. Or just hang myself.

You'd think that Ronald Reagan supporters and kids who score 1400+ on their SATs would be mutually exclusive groups. I wonder who their mascot will be? Dan Quayle?

I'm torn. A degree in political science with an internship in Baghdad, an MBA with a nice job offering from a lobbying firm working for General Electric or McDonnell Douglas, or maybe something in the RR School o' Medicine researching Alzheimer's and cryonics? Too bad I never played football so I'm probably not eligible for the Gipper Scholarship. It's never too late to go back to school and finish that degree...

Actually it's pretty disgusting. And I thought you had to be dead first before they named an aircraft carrier after you.

So what don't you like about him? His hard-line policies led to the fall of the Soviet Union and one billion people gaining their freedom (all without a shot being fired).
