Curb YoCarb
Yuck, yuck, yuck! While at the supermarket looking for something to lunch, I picked up this new "yogurt" from LeCarb called YoCarb. Now I'm not a low carb person (I could live on bread alone) but I was curious, as there were only 3g of carbs in the 4oz serving, which is extremely low (a normal yogurt is in the 20s, I think).
Never, ever again. LeCarb YoCarb Plan Yogurt was perhaps the worst 3 spoonfuls of yogurt I've ever had. Bleck. Just another confirmation that diet foods all too often go wrong.
And speaking of the ridiculousness of chemicals and calories, check out the commentary in this weeks New Yorker about Mid-Calorie Coke (Thanks for the heads up on that, MP, I laughed my butt off reading the full article again on the subway this morning).

As I no longer have a metabolism that allows me to live on bread alone, and because of the diabetes that runs in the family, I've been following a modest lo-carb regimen for a few years. The recent fad is quite amusing to me. If someone ate all the lo-carb crapola out there they would never lose any weight!

besides the fact that most of the low carb crap TASTES like crap. it's totally possible to be careful with carbs and not eat low carb cardboad. americans needs to learn moderation. i need to learn not to buy fad foods.

and, of course, what most folks end up doing is eating tons of the low-carb, low-fat, low-whatever stuff while deluding themselves that it is "good" for them. 4,000 caloies later they aree fatter than they started...

The only diet that's truly good for you in the long run is a moderately sized, well balanced one. 'Nuff said.

It's like when some reporter asked the president of Goya (a Hispanic foods brand) why no "healthy" versions of their products. Let's face it the president says, if we take out the fat and salt, we take out the flavor. Eat less of good tasting food not more of the horribly flavored chow supposedly good for you.
