A 15K of SNOW

weather.jpg

After a rather long hiatus (at least of running together), Skutchie and I are reuniting this Saturday for the NYRRC annual Hot Chocolate 15K.

This said, I would just like to bring this morning's weather forecast to everyone's attention.

good luck with the running around in the cold!

Alas, winter is winter. I actually don't mind the cold and snow....unless it creeps into March and April, which it frequently did during my tryst as a New Englander.

David, Meg and I will be running in the snow as well. Woo hoo!

Whoo hoo! Crazy bloggers unite. Maybe a camera is needed. I really wish I had an ELPH.

i know it's going to be cold and maybe snowy, but there's this cool thing in the slope/windsor terrace this weekend that might be worth checking out -- it's a FREE open studio tour and i will be braving the weather on sunday to check it out. i've done these sorts of things before in my neighborhood (carroll gardens/cobble hill) and they tend to be pretty cool. maybe i'll run into some of you park slope people!

What was I thinking. Doing the longest race of my short running career in the winter? It is bad enough I am freaking out about the distance, now the weather too? Yikes. Well hopefully, I won't fall...

i have a question, how do you guys dress for winter running? i've been riding my bike in cold weather a lot lately and it sucks cuz i'm either too cold or too friggin' sweaty. do i have to buy a bunch of ugly spandex?

Posted by: Jimmy Legs at December 4, 2003 1:27 PM

hmm. jimmylegs in spandex. will you wear one of those silly cycling hats that were popular with 80's bmx bikers (and williamsburg hipsters)?

actually, i'm not sure what the heck to wear, mainly because it's a long freakin schlepp from park slope to the UES. but for the actual run: running tights with a pair of shorts over them, a long sleave shirt (mine have thumbholes to keep the hands warm), and a windbreaking jacket. and a hat...or one of those headband things to cover the ears.

we once saw some dude in a full spandex body suit. he looked like a hippie cirque du soleil character...he also ran our asses to the ground.
