The One in the Middle...

...Is a Vintage Pair of ROOs?
My favorite childhood sneakers are back in style.
I might just need to check them out.

i also love the 'roos, but these aren't velcro. if they had the ones that i had when i was a kid, i might consider buying a pair.

You know, I was just thinking about that. I thought mine were velcro, too...as I don't remember owning any sneakers with laces until much later in life...

Funny thing Callallie, I was just the other day wondering what ever became of the old Roos with their zipped key pockets.
Sad to say I wont be able to get you that frying pan as I had hoped to. My employment contract with "The Bank" expires 9/30 and wont be being renewed. Capitalism!
PS enjoy the Remote Lounge, maybe there will be found the guy for you!!!!!

I've been seeing these babies appear on hipper feet than my own for a couple of months now. Then, the other day while shoe shopping, there was an entire freakin' display rack of them--are these the new Saucony? Well, I tend to think these colorful dinosaurs-animate will have less staying power than the former, as even coolsters need a more virile symbol than a marsupial.
My kangaroos were red and white (i think I had a velcro and non-velcro pair, but may be wrong). I put nickels and pebbles in mine. Maybe 'Roos will change to serve the times--Glock Pockets and Celly Bellies, natch.

i also agree with the sentiment that if i did buy a pair of the new 'roos, i would just be a fashion victim.
i'm looking at a picture of me as a child, and the 'roos on my feet were blue and with silver-ish lettering. and i think i stored pennies in them. no nickels for me.

I think I might have stuffed snack or lunch money in them. I think mine were blue, as well...but they were definitely velcro. The thought of high schoolers running around with cell phones zipped into their shoes is highly entertaining.

okay, no laughing, but here is the picture of me with the shoes.

I had pink and purple velcro roos in like 2nd grade...ok, they were fake ones from the Brent City Store (sort of a precursor to KMart), as the financial situation did not provide for real ones. In any case, I clearly remember putting my lunch money in the pocket one day (back when lunch was $.80) and then the change got stuck and I couldn't get it out. Damn fake 'Roos. Later on I had real 'Roos, purple canvas high tops. Eeek!

Hightops? Wow. I don't remember those. I wish they would make runners' shoes like Roos. That way I wouldn't have to tuck all that shizzo into my laces.

Tien, you were one cute 'Roo wearer.

i think they are making hightops again. actually, they kind of look like wrestling shoes.
oh, yes, too bad that cuteness has worn off...
